Condoleezza Rice and Malcom Harkins Discuss Cyber Terrorism and Cybersecurity Regulation

Technology continues to connect the globe, making our world seem smaller every day. But through this increased interconnectedness across nations, managing cyber attacks against government agencies and infrastructure is an essential part of national security.

With every passing day, cybercrime becomes more advanced and threatening.  This is prompting huge efforts to be put in motion that minimize or prevent these attacks we’re seeing on a global scale.

In an effort to explain the full repercussions of these world-wide cyber threats and analyze regulatory approaches we’re seeing from federal agencies, Cylance is powering an on-demand webinar titled “The World and Cyberspace – Populism, Privacy, and Prevention” which is moderated by CSO Publisher Robert Bragdon with featured guests Dr. Condoleezza Rice, Former Secretary of State and Founding Partner, RiceHadleyGates, LLC, and Malcolm Harkins, Chief Security and Trust Officer at Cylance.

In the webinar, Dr. Rice discusses with Mr. Harkins and Mr. Bragdon her candid views on the rise of populism, the use of technology for good and bad, and the future of democracy. Between cyber terrorism becoming an increasingly pressing threat for government entities all around the world and the incredible growth in the use of digital media to sway popular opinion, Dr. Rice thinks there is a lot to be said about new rules and regulations and how we approach data leaks and security.

Dr. Rice states, “If there is one thing we know from studying the history of weapons and weaponry is that no weapon remains the sole province of one country for very long. It is only a matter of time until the knowledge spreads, the technology spreads, somebody steals it then it proliferates…And so I’m not surprised we’re seeing what we’re seeing in cyber.”

This webinar is part of a series titled “Securing the Ever Connected World Webinar Series” that explores the corporate, political and economic consequences of these cyberattacks.
